Building trust to take action together.
Our vision is a world that responds to climate change by strengthening social ties, reducing inequality, and making spaces for the creativity and agency of ordinary people.
We support responses to climate change that are locally rooted and shaped by local people. Approaches that make adjustments so that underrepresented voices are included - for example through covering childcare or travel costs, remunerating participants for their time, telling stories of climate action that are driven by social concerns as well as environmental ones.
We aim to balance care and attention to process with a willingness to take bold action and get things wrong. We are always open to feedback, and this learning process is what we mean by Praxis.
Our goal is to inspire action, facilitate change, and amplify community voices in the journey towards a zero carbon future.
Praxis
‘Praxis’ is the merging of practice and theory.
It’s about learning from our experiences and being open to our understanding and ideas changing.
It’s about our actions being informed by our - and others’ - experiences, ideas, and theories.
Theory
Practice to theory
Researching structures and everyday practices so our collective knowledge is grounded.
Reviewing the processes of groups, organisations, and government, and their relationships and histories, so we can learn together. Conducting community-centred social research on climate and place.
Theory to practice
Ensuring the world we live in informs strategy and policy.
Sharing our research, ideas, and professional experiences to improve real processes. Showcasing our diverse collective histories so we can open the space for people to make the changes we need.
Practice
Praxis is the moving between theory and practice, and it runs through everything we do.
