Designing participatory and deliberative processes.
Creating experiences of collective discussion and deliberation on the topics our communities care about most. Adding seats to the table so more people can get involved in the decisions which impact them.
We know just how many people care about their communities.
We know that positive, meaningful experiences of participation can develop deliberation skills and confidence.
So we design processes that allow people to explore participation and collective discussions, creating spaces for them to get empowered.

Mock COP
Young people have an essential role to play in our climate future. We designed and hosted a model climate conference to give Bristol sixth formers a space to make their voices heard.

Bristol School of Commoning
We ran courses exploring how to manage ‘the commons’ - shared resources, beyond the state and the market, that enable us to survive and thrive.

Future of Cities with The Bristol Cable
The Bristol Cable wrote four articles on transport as part of their ‘Future of Cities’ series. We spoke to experts and everyday Bristolians about how we can improve Bristol’s transport for the future.

WESTACT
We know that transport is one of the biggest hurdles in Bristol’s response to the climate emergency. Emilia’s time with WESTACT outside of Praxis Research works to jump that hurdle, and platform unheard voices in transport conversations in the West of England.

Community Resilience Fund
Bristol City Council, VCSE, and community members awarded grants to small, community organisations to build their resilience. Jack’s evaluation of the project showed the potential and learnings of a huge participatory democratic process.

Democratic Listening Circle
The Just Transition Declaration aims to make climate action fair. We held conversations between Bristolians about how the Declaration impacts them in different ways, to build bridges over division.
